The February 9, 2011 Saskatchewan provincial land sale resulted in a total bonus of almost $13.7 million for nine licences in the Forgan area of southwestern Saskatchewan (T.22-25, R.11-13W3). Offsetting these parcels, operators Husky Oil, Flagstone Energy, WestFire Energy and Novus Energy have production from established Cretaceous Viking light oil pools at Forgan and Forgan West. Currently, these pools are being exploited through advanced horizontal drilling technology, which is being employed in the area to expand existing pool boundaries, as well as discover potential new on trend Viking pools on acreage not previously explored.
