Lower Mississippian Bakken and Upper Devonian Torquay (Three Forks) development and exploration activity has been brisk along the 49th Parallel during 2010 and 2011. As of September 2011, about 207,000 M3 of Bakken oil and 17,200 M3 of Torquay oil had been produced by the 86 wells that were rig released in 2010 and 2011 in Saskatchewan, and about 188,300 M3 of Bakken oil and 26,500 M3 of Three Forks oil had been produced by the 38 wells that were rig released in 2010 and 2011 in North Dakota.
